How do you win at bingo?

It depends on the game. In 90-ball bingo you can usually win for one line, two lines or a full house — all 15 numbers on your ticket. In 75-ball bingo you'll be chasing a pattern, such as four corners, a letter X, a picture frame or the full card. The winning pattern is always shown in the room before the game starts, so take a quick look before you buy.

90-ball bingo

The UK classic and the game most people grew up with in the hall. Each ticket has three rows and nine columns, with 15 numbers in total, and there are three prizes in every game: one line, two lines and the full house. Tickets come in strips of six, so every number from 1 to 90 appears once across a full strip — buy the strip and you'll mark off a number with every call.

75-ball bingo

A fast, colourful game played on a 5 × 5 grid under the letters B-I-N-G-O, with a free space right in the middle. Rather than lines across, each game has its own winning pattern, from simple corners to shapes and letters, which keeps every round feeling fresh.

80-ball bingo

A happy medium between 75 and 90-ball. You play on a 4 × 4 grid of 16 numbers, and you can win with a line, the four corners or a full house.

Speed bingo

In a progressive jackpot room, a small part of every ticket sold goes into a pot that keeps growing until someone wins it. What are your chances of winning at bingo?

Bingo is a game of chance, and every ticket in a game has the same shot at winning. Your odds depend on how many tickets you hold compared with the total number in play. If you have 10 tickets in a game with 500 tickets sold, your chance of winning the full house is roughly 1 in 50. If two players complete the pattern on the same call, the prize is shared.

Busier rooms usually mean bigger prizes but a smaller chance per ticket, while quieter rooms offer the opposite. Whichever you choose, no system or lucky strategy can change the result — every number is drawn at random.
